Have you ever had a dream of moving to the country and buying a piece of land to grow your own veggies and live a more peaceful, simple life in harmony with nature?
That is what Stanley and Lainy did in the tiny, far-out village of Baardskeerdersbos in the Overberg.
Now they are hosting pop-up dinners there, using ingredients straight out of their garden, and dairy and meats from the local farmers in their area.
Chef Suzi Holtzhauzen is the guest chef cooking up all sorts of original dishes along with Stanley, like hot-rock-squashed pears, in the gorgeous, open-plan country kitchen. Service is intimate as there are no more than 30 guests at a time and the local good wine is abundant and flowing. A walk around the property and their forest will make you want to give up on all city pursuits and start planting some peach trees!
